Since there are plenty of colors to choose from, you need to know that some of these will react differently with sun. We all know that sunlight will make epoxy to become pale and lose its shine over time. You got to be careful about this. It’s a reason why these paints are used in closed rooms only, such as garages. You couls do flooring with epoxy outdoors, but then you have to make sure no direct sunlight will be involved at all. Or, you can already get a color that is white or yellowish so it will hide the influence of the sun. But you can’t stop it from losing it’s shine though. So you have to think about this twice.

If you plan to use cheap epoxy paint for outdoors, forget about it. IT will last a lot less than anything you have ever seen. It’s best to keep those for light traffic areas and that are in closed rooms. I suggest you visit Quikrete and Rustoleum shops for the best that is on the market. Get a experienced handyman and you will have a good flooring beneath your feet. Do that and you will get the best bang for your buck.

Epoxy Paint For Pools

There are plenty of advantages when it comes to painting your pool. It is decorative, easy to clean, lasts longer and is seamless. You will have a much easier job doing this then putting tiles on your pool. Paint gives a seamless finish so you do not have to worry about tiles and their joints at all.

When it comes to options you have here, there are three of them: epoxy, acrylic and rubber based paints.

First, epoxy is a long lasting, chemical resistant and highly durable paint. With a good layer, you will be at peace for 7 to 10 years. You will have a two parts to deal with here, a resin and a hardener. You will mix them in a 1 to 1 rate. I know that the price of these materials seems high, but when you compare how many years they can endure and how much you pay for them, epoxy costs you lower then a chlorinated rubber.

Second option for pool paint is the rubber. It is not so expensive like epoxy and it is easy to apply. You also have a lot of colors to choose from. Although chlorinated rubber is highly resistant to acids, salts and alkalis, it is not as durable as epoxy. But still, it has great recoat abilities and water immersion resistance. We usually see this material used for commercial purposes, where a pool gets cleaner every few years.

Third option is an acrylic coating that is usable on many surfaces and is easy to apply. Its a great option for commercial applications that need to be repainted regularly. You can guess already, this paint type lasts for 2 or 3 years. It doesn’t need a hardener or any sorts of catalyst, which is the case with epoxy. And since it is a polymer resin, it is suspended in water. You won’t get as many fumes out of it and this is a benefit for all DIY people. But this type of pool paint is stained easier and will not last as long as first two types.

As you can see, epoxy paint is the best when it comes to pools. You have to make a investment at the start, but as the time goes on, you get to save your money.
